Castle Loch Trust update

Good news from the Castle Loch Lochmaben Community Trust on fund raising, the continuing employment of a Project Officer, walker numbers and other matters.
  • The Board of Trustees thank the Lochmaben and District Initiative for their contribution to the Sponsored Walk on 17 October. This enjoyable family event for all ages has resulted in £1500 being raised for CLLCT funds. Well done to all concerned.
  • Following a grant from the Annandale & Nithsdale Community Benefit Company, the Project Officer, Darren Flint, will continue to be employed by the CLLCT for two days per week in 2016 and a further two days at Moffat & District Community Nature Reserve.
  • The number of people walking completely round the Castle Loch is averaging 1420 per month.
  • Following the survey of Castle Loch Walk users, discussions are taking place with architects regarding modification to Lochfield Cottage. Particular attention is being paid to flood prevention, improvement to toilet facilities, security and providing facilities for a range of user groups.
  • Consideration is being given to a number of events in 2016 such as a one day "Castle Loch Painting Competition and a possible "Castle Loch Run"
