Several residents of Lochmaben deserve to be congratulated on their recent achievements--Fraser Burnett, Jonathon Sharp, Kris Grant, Rachael Callaghan, Iain Whitty and Peter Diggle

Fraser Burnett---Dux in S5 at Lockerbie Academy

Jonathon Sharp---Proxima Accessit (runner-up) in S5 at Lockerbie Academy

Kris Grant---Winner of the Senior Pentathlon at Lockerbie Academy

Rachael (Roo) Callaghan---Former Lockerbie Academy pupil now studying English Literature and Sociology at Glasgow University, recently completed the London Marathon on stilts. Rachel and her friend, David Banks were raising money for the NSPCC. She managed to complete the Marathon in 7 hours 50 minutes which was just outside the world record. Over £2100 has been raised by Rachael and David and if you wish to contribute you can visit:

Iain Whitty---took part in the mammoth Hoka Highland Fling Ultra Marathon recently. He completed the 53 mile course in 13 hours and has already raised over £1000 for the Valerie Taylor Trust which helps disabled people in Bangladesh. To support Iain visit:

He ran his first London marathon in 1999 and since then has completed 5 more. He trains locally including Ae Forest. Iain swapped cigarettes for running shoes in the late 1990's and says that he could not have achieved what he has if he had continued to smoke.

 Peter Diggle---Peter was elected as a Councillor for the Annandale North Ward at last week's count. We wish him well in his new role at a time when Council finances are very tight.
