Well known walker camps at Kirk Loch

Chris Townsend well known for his mountain and wilderness writing and photography stopped of in Lochmaben while completing the Annandale Way

Chris Townsend has been commissioned by Walk Highlands and SNH to provide a report on our long distance footpath, the Annandale Way. On 3/4 May he camped overnight at the Kirk Loch site and thoroughly recommended it as a place to stay.

He is noting any problems re signage and will contact the website with the relevant information when he returns home to Grantown-on-Spey to write his report. He said that he had enjoyed the Annandale Way and of course has been blessed with a superb spell of weather. In June SNH is doing a relaunch of all the long distance footpaths including hopefully the Annandale Way.

Amongst his many walking achievements (www.auchnarrow.demon.co.uk) are being the first person to complete a continuous round of all the Munros and Tops and the first to walk the 1600 mile length of the Canadian Rockies ( Annandale Way-- 55 miles!). Chris has also written 17 books on the outdoors including the award-winning The Backpacker's Handbook. He is a regular contributor to the TGO Magazine.
