On Saturday 22 January 2011 a Lochmaben Primary School team travelled to the Sands Centre in Carlisle to take part in a Junior School 5-a-side football competition which was open to schools in Carlisle and surrounding area and South-west Scotland. It was an all day event with 40 teams competing.

In the Prelimenary round Lochmaben were drawn with 4 teams from the Carlisle area and emerged with 3 wins and 1 draw. This result put them through to the Quarter Finals where they defeated a Carlisle school, Stanwix and then in the Semi-final they went on to beat a school in Maryport. Both the Cumbrian sides play regularly in a competitive league and had a large support egging them on.

In the Final, Lochmaben again played well to beat High Hesket 4-2 to lift the trophy. It is the first time in 19 years that a Scottish school has won this competition (Calside in 1992). Coach, Kenny Galloway commented: " I am very proud of the boys. They all played very well and deserved their win"
