2009 AGM Minutes

Minutes of the Annual General Meeting of Lochmaben and District Initiative held at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 4 February 2009 in Lochmaben Town Hall

Present: S Grant (Chair),   S Coulthard,   M Green,    D Mair,    D Rose,   T Russell,   D Whiterod

Apologies: A Brown,  Cllr M Dickie,  I Gow,  P Gow,  J Wade,  K Ward.

Minutes of the AGM held on 6 February 2008 were approved

Chairman's Report:
The Chairman was complimented on his full detailed account of the past year's activities. The report was accepted as tabled with a caveat from David Rose re his position in the CLVG. Paul Roxburgh's contribution to the Town Trail was noted for future discussion. The Chairman was thanked all his work during the past year and for providing leadership in taking the Initiative Projects forward.

Treasurer's Report:
After discussion on the ring-fenced SHN money and the costs of the website, the Treasurer's Report was accepted. The 2009 Balance was £8050, slightly up on 2008.

Election of Office Bearers:
The following were elected:
Chairman       Sandy Grant       Vice-Chairman          Tom Russell
Secretary        Vacant           Minute Secretary      Alistair Brown
Treasurer       Vacant
Tom and Sandy were covering the vacant posts until they can be filled
Sandy intimated that he would be relinquishing the Chairman's role next year. More Committee members are required.

Election of Committee:
The following were elected.
M Green, I Gow, P Gow, D Mair, D Rose, J Wade, K Ward, D Whiterod

Amended Constitution:
After discussion the amendments to the Constitution were accepted. As from next year, Nomination Forms will be required to be filled in prior to the meeting so this item should be on the Agenda for the November 2009 and January 2010 meetings.

Cllr  Dickie joined the meeting

Accounts Examiner: Ian Stewart was thanked for examining the accounts and was agreeable to continue to
do so for 2009.

Cllr Dickie: Topics discussed included potholes; Bruce Trail sign at the Motte; crime statistics; less local vandalism; Core Paths; less money for the Area Committee; padlocked gate at Marlake Cottage;   request for a Youth Shelter--Sue hoped the group would liaise with her on the matter.

AOB: (i)      Although there may be the possibility of a Sunday Football team using the Whitehills pitch, there is still the need for another full size pitch in Lochmaben--possible one at Broomhill. Only a small pitch is possible at Grummel Park.
(ii) Need for more signage to Lochmaben Castle at Castlemains Farm.
(iii) Trees are being felled at Hightae Loch by Sulwath Connections to be replaced with native species
(iv) Information was circulated on Lochmaben School activities for the 2009 Homecoming and a Funding Roadshow by A & E CVS on 24 February 2009 at Lockerbie Manor.
