Councillor Dickie’s Report
The Eco Deco site will be opening soon, and the council reminded Michael how keen they are to visit. Michael assured the meeting that we were on their list.
Virgin Trains and First Rail will be having a direct service from Lockerbie to Manchester Airport, other routes will be London, Glasgow and Carlisle, and the new time table will be out next week. The new services will start next year and hopefully there will be trains returning to Lockerbie at later times during the evenings.
There are still a lot of Budget concerns but the council tax will not be increasing.
Funding has been withdrawn from many groups, Scottish Arts Council being one of them, and the funding for ‘Supporting People’ will be reduced, along with ‘Quality of Life’.
The ‘Common Good Fund’ for Lochmaben and the Bruce Organisation has £60,000 towards establishing a ‘Bruce Trail’ and the Lochmaben Community Council were asked if they could contribute £200 towards this. The members at the meeting agreed to this.
Michael will be attending the meetings of the Hunter Trust and Hightae Lochs Management this week.
A new Ranger has been appointed.
One member requested a time table for the bus shelter, and that the actual shelter needed cleaning, Michael will organise a time table to be put in the shelter.
A request was made for Robert the Bruce to be cleaned. Michael advised that Dumfries & Galloway council would be approached about this. The Fountain at Townhead could do with a good clean too.
Michael asked if everyone could attend the meetings that involved the Lochmaben Community Hospital as their support was needed. He assured everyone that before final decisions were made they would have to consult with the public.
Correspondence
Planning applications were read out and passed around.
The rest of the correspondence was read out, and Suzanne to write to various parties in reply.
Suzanne has replied to Taylor Wimpey and they are invited to our January meeting.
Senior Citizens Christmas Party
